Ahead on the dusty road you see a young child. You notice his slight frame, the obvious result of malnutrition. He picks through the dirt, scrounging for a morsel of food, savoring each small bite he finds. He looks up as you approach and reaches his hand up to you. You will choose to pass by or to look him in the eyes, grasp his hand and lift his frail body to a place of hope.
That is our mission, to reach out to the children of the southern district of Sierra Leone, until every child has hope. Explore the rest of the website to see what Jonathan's House is all about.

News, Promise & Prayer
Some exciting news is that we are working to move our kids from dormitory style living to individual homes similar to foster homes. The homes are still located on our campus but the kids will be a part of those specific homes and families. Pray for the new house parents and the kids as they adjust. We need about $750 per home to provide necessary furniture, cooking pots, beds, etc. If you would like to help with that contact Roger Hatch at roger.hatch@yahoo.com.
We have opportunities for visiting Jonathan’s House this fall. We are tentatively planning a trip for October of 2010. If you are interested contact Roger Hatch at roger.hatch@yahoo.com. We would love to have you come along for the trip that will change your life.
Our kids have been in their new school for several months now. The school is beautiful and we are excited about having a “rain free” school. Just a week or so after we moved into our new school a storm came and it blew our old school down! God knew what He was doing!
Praise the Lord for Christie Shermer! She is serving as a short-term missionary and will be at the home until the middle of July. Pray for her health and stamina! Pray that God will touch the lives of the kids and staff in a meaningful way through Christie! Pray for Christie as she returns to the States and as she determines what God would have her to do next. We wouldn’t mind if she returned to JCC!
Pray for our kids as they prepare to take exams this Spring. Is Sierra Leone one must pass the exam to pass from grade 6 to grade 7, grade 9 to grade 10 and grade 12 to college. If one does not pass this final exam then they must either repeat that grade or be finished with school and follow other endeavors. Many of our kids missed so much school during the war that it has been difficult to catch up. Pray that they have done well and can pass the exams.
Praise the Lord for Jonathan and Margaret Kutubu who have been JCC missionaries to the Vai Mende of Sierra Leone. They are a people group that have had no Christians. There was a recent cholera outbreak there that took the lives of 10 people. God protected the Kutubu’s. Jonathan and Margaret have seen 24 people come to Christ. They are busy now discipling those 24 people. They are also preparing to reach out to the nearby villages. Pray for them in the work they are doing.
